Job Description

This Senior Category Buyer for Smart and Imaging will be responsible for multiple complex categories, leading a team of 2 buyers and 3 junior buyers. The key responsibilities include:
  • Managing all category supplier relationships in line with our overall commercial supplier strategy and the category strategy.
  • Harnessing credible relationships with suppliers and developing a sourcing strategy to bring customers the best ranges while minimizing NET cost of goods.
  • Working with suppliers to develop a strong understanding of the future technology roadmap, enabling the category to plan ahead for changes in customer trends and demand.
  • Negotiating product ranges, including cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability.
  • Negotiating additional financial terms related to ranging, activity, and performance.
  • Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets.
  • Collaborating with merchandising to ensure forecasting at the right level to maximize sales and stock turn.
  • Providing and regularly reviewing team members' objectives, priorities, and performance via Personal Development Review and one-to-ones, supporting their professional and personal development.
  • Writing the category strategy to achieve a 3-year plan for the business area inline with company KPIs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Substantial buying experience working within a FMCG/Fashion or Hard Goods fast-paced retailer.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier partnerships at differing levels of seniority.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Management/leadership experience of more than 1 direct report.
