Job Title: Academic Support Specialist

Randstad Student Support is seeking a dedicated Academic Support Specialist to provide one-on-one study skills support to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) at colleges and universities in Aberdeen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide learning support and academic guidance to students
  • Create individual learning plans tailored to students' needs
  • Encourage students to become independent learners
  • Support students in developing independence, building on strengths and learning strategies, and creating action plans to stay on track with studies
  • Build on research skills, widening knowledge by using a variety of sources, and distinguishing appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organisational skills
  • Relevant professional body memberships
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
