Platform Engineer

About the Role
The IT Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and scaling services within a specific IT platform. This role will collaborate closely with IT Architects, product/platform teams, security, and network specialists to deliver seamless IT services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lifecycle Management: Ensure the efficient management of IT infrastructure components, including servers, databases, cloud services, network, and storage systems.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services.
- Release Platform Engineering & Configuration: Design, build, and test IT infrastructure components to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintenance, Support & Troubleshooting: Provide timely and effective maintenance, support, and troubleshooting services to ensure minimal downtime.
- Reliability Engineering & Performance: Ensure the reliability and performance of IT infrastructure components to meet business requirements.
- Task & Process Automation: Automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience within an IT department.
- Proficiency in designing scalable and reliable technology platforms, including knowledge of system components, architecture patterns, and integration techniques.
- Demonstrable ability to manage and continuously improve infrastructure components.
- Experience in IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
- Understanding of system development life cycle methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience of agile development methodologies.
- Strong scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Experience with cloud and cloud platforms, and cloud services to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure.
- Knowledge of virtualisation technologies and containerisation tools for efficient resource utilisation and deployment.
