Literacy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled English Teacher to join our team at an Ofsted Good Secondary School in Dukinfield, Tameside. This is a full-time position starting in January to cover a maternity leave.

• Teach English at Key Stages 3 and 4: Deliver engaging lessons that encompass both English Language and Literature, encouraging critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep appreciation for the written word.
• Curriculum Development: Design and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum goals, using a variety of resources to meet students' varied learning needs and ensure curriculum standards are met.
• Student Assessment and Feedback: Regularly evaluate student progress through written assignments, exams, and class participation, providing detailed feedback that supports individual growth.
• Exam Preparation: Guide students in their preparation for GCSE English exams, utilizing targeted strategies to enhance understanding and build confidence in core exam skills.
• Classroom Environment: Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages students to express their ideas openly, participate actively, and take ownership of their learning.
• Literature Exploration: Introduce students to a diverse range of texts, fostering a broad appreciation of different genres, historical contexts, and cultural perspectives.
