Automated Assembly TechnicianJob Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking toolmaking duties by setting up and maintaining automated assembly machinery, manufacturing, and maintaining tooling and spares to ensure production targets are met while ensuring quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: Work safely according to behavioural safety policies.
  • Maintenance Expertise: Carry out maintenance and refurbishment of automated assembly equipment and rectify machine breakdowns.
  • Manual Machining Skills: Competent in using manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, surface, cylindrical, and internal grinding machines.
  • Preventative Maintenance Tasks: Routine preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the asset care programme for each individual machine.
  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Use and develop diagnostic tools/procedures to resolve machine problems and ensure process checks are completed to required standards.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate with colleagues and team leaders at shift handover to ensure any problems are left with detailed explanations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement programmes, considering OEE targets and KPIs.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential Qualifications: Experience with mechanical maintenance, manual machining, hand fitting, and metrology equipment is essential. Pneumatics and automated assembly experience preferred but not essential.
  • Education: Time served Toolmaker/Mechanical Engineer or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or ONC, HNC etc).
    • GCSE or Equivalent: GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths; computer literacy in Word and Excel desirable.

This role offers an estimated salary of $75,000 per annum, depending on experience.
