About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at STERIS Canada Corporation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct routine maintenance work, adhering to GMP documentation standards and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Respond to plant breakdowns, completing all relevant records and documentation to required standards, both outside and during normal business hours.
  3. Facilitate management of programmable logic control (PLC) and SCADA systems, in alignment with external support service providers and local maintenance management.
  4. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) as per the schedule and ensure reactive maintenance tickets are closed out timeously, with accurate data captured.
  5. Support plant breakdowns both outside and during normal business hours, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  6. Actively participate in the review and development of the planned maintenance schedule and total productive maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
  7. Review, trend, and present plant failure modes, highlighting required investment areas and contributing to continuous improvement programs.
  8. Continuous review and maintenance of stock levels of critical spares, ensuring optimal inventory management.
  9. Oversee and carry out installation and maintenance of general plant machinery and equipment, including fork lift trucks, compressors, and ancillary equipment.
  10. Maintain plant ancillary item stocks in line with local service level agreements, ensuring seamless operations.
  11. Update site-related risk assessments for maintenance tasks and conduct annual reviews, ensuring a safe working environment.
  12. Fully utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring accurate data input, used to coordinate planned activities and log all maintenance issues and works updates.
Facilities and Quality
  1. Coordinate the contractor management program on site, ensuring permits to work, method statements, and risk assessments are completed, presented, and managed during the planning and duration of engineering projects.
  2. Conduct internal auditing of systems and processes in line with the planned preventative maintenance program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  3. Develop and maintain processes and procedures for both maintenance and facilities, improving training documentation and visual management systems related to engineering, in alignment with management.
  4. Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the building are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
  1. Operate to GMP documentation standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Attend and contribute to annual maintenance review meetings, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  3. Lead annual maintenance review meetings, driving discussions and decision-making to optimize maintenance operations.
  4. Knowledge and/or experience of continuous improvement programs and the medical industry would be a distinct advantage, enabling you to make a significant impact in this role.
  5. Welding and fabrication experience would be beneficial, as would basic electrical drawings and design skills.
  6. Basic mechanical drawing and design skills would also be advantageous, enabling you to contribute to the development of maintenance plans and procedures.
