About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Manager to lead our Engineering Operations team at British Airways Maintenance Glasgow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a safe and professional engineering operation, driving engagement and building effective relationships with trade unions, colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.

The role requires a strong technical background, with the ability to challenge the status quo and implement new ideas, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for the Technical, Quality, and Airmanship standards of the shifts production, ensuring good engineering practice is constantly delivered to maintain compliance with relevant regulations and processes.
  2. Drives engagement and builds effective relationships with trade unions, colleagues, stakeholders, and partners by role modelling and embedding leadership and brand behaviours.
  3. Delivers shift performance on quality and safety, operational and customer, financial and commercial, and colleagues.
  4. Provides a safe working environment, drives and maintains safe and secure working practices with professional standards of work and housekeeping.
  5. Develops colleagues' skills, capabilities, and qualifications to support the operational requirements and talent pipeline for Engineering.

  1. Evidence of leading technical teams to consistently deliver high performance in an operation environment.
  2. Sufficient technical knowledge to challenge the status quo and implement new ideas.
  3. Demonstrates structured problem-solving skills to make fact-based decisions in a complex operational environment.
  4. Use of proven communication skills, engaging and influencing to deliver business objectives.
  5. Ability to develop, inspire, and guide technical teams to deliver to their full potential.
  6. Ability to adapt leadership style to different situations.
