Sellafield Ltd is a pioneering force in the UK's nuclear industry, driving innovation and excellence. As Chief Communications Strategist, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company's reputation and positioning it as a world leader in delivering its purpose of creating a clean and safe environment for future generations.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the internal and external communications team, comprising 40-strong professionals, to build confidence and influence principal stakeholders, including national and local government, regulators, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and employees. You will be required to work from Sellafield Cumbria or Risley office 2-3 days per week.

The successful candidate will:

  • Set out a vision and ambition for stakeholder engagement aligned with the company's purpose and enterprise strategy;
  • Demonstrate cost-effective and efficient business processes and organisational structure to facilitate optimum performance of the stakeholder relations directorate and the company;
  • Develop a long-term internal and external engagement stakeholder and policy communications strategy that supports key business objectives;
  • Enhance reputation through strategic communications, crisis and operational communications while working in partnership with the HR team, improving employee communication and engagement;
  • Identify, prioritise and influence stakeholders to support strategic objectives and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes;

To succeed, you will need:

  • An enthusiastic senior leader with a track record of achievement in stakeholder engagement and strategic communications;
  • Experience working with highly regulated, complex organisations with multiple external and internal stakeholders;
  • Highly developed communication/relationship building skills and leadership qualities, experience developing strategic communications programmes in a fast-moving and political environment;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of public sector communications policy context;
  • Significant experience engaging a mixed plant and office-based workforce to deliver motivation, productivity and change;

This is a challenging yet rewarding role, offering a competitive salary of £80,000 - £100,000 depending on experience, plus benefits. If you are passionate about communications and stakeholder engagement, this could be your ideal opportunity.
