Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Property Lawyer to join our Legal team at Walsall Housing Group. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial property law matters, working closely with our Property and Commercial Law manager and a team of 7 colleagues.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Undertake all aspects of commercial property and general property law, with a particular focus on landlord and tenant matters.
  2. Drafting commercial leases, licences for land occupation, and telecommunication leases, with a strong understanding of the Electronic Communications Code 2003.
  3. Support with commercial shop leases, assignment, deed of surrender, and rent deposits and forfeiture.
  4. Residential Conveyancing – dealing with the sale and purchase of registered and unregistered, freehold and leasehold property, including shared ownership and staircasing.
  5. General boundary disputes, ownership queries, encroachment, trespassing, and general property litigation.
  6. Supporting with land rectification matters, including land swaps to third parties, title anomalies, and associated conveyancing.

Requirements

  1. A law degree or other relevant professional qualification.
  2. Experience as a Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of one year PQE (two years is desirable), with exposure to working in-house or in a law firm practicing commercial property or general property law.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to produce reports and deliver presentations and training. Ability to interpret legislation, regulation, and policy documents.
