Under the guidance of the Practice Nurse and in collaboration with the practice team, the incumbent will be expected to carry out a variety of healthcare-related tasks. This position entails ensuring the delivery of patient care, managing practice supplies, and contributing to health and wellness initiatives.

ELM Alliance LTD (Eston, Langbaugh, Middlesbrough Alliance) is a GP Federation founded in 2016, owned entirely by local GP Practices in the Middlesbrough, Redcar, and Cleveland areas. We provide primary care and community services under contract with the NHS CCG, Local Primary Care Networks, and Local Authorities, while also offering support and resources to our member practices.
Job Duties
- Deliver compassionate care to all patients and assist the Practice Nurse in organizing clinics.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve positive outcomes in CQC, QOF, enhanced services, and local improvement initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of statutory and local clinical protection protocols, including referral systems and recognizing signs of child abuse.
- Document informed consent accurately, whether verbal or written.
- Implement and adhere to infection control standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of stock and equipment, including refrigeration and emergency supplies, in compliance with CQC regulations.
- Assess the healthcare needs of patients effectively.
- Provide health education by directing patients to appropriate staff within the practice.
- In collaboration with patients and in accordance with current disease management protocols, develop care plans with the Practice Nurse.
- Recognize and manage anaphylaxis in line with current UK guidelines.
- Perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as per current UK standards.
- Support the practice and PCN in delivering Covid response and vaccination efforts.
- Participate in the organization and administration of immunization programs, including flu, Covid, shingles, and travel vaccinations.
- Engage in the management of chronic disease clinics through diagnostic testing.
- Conduct health surveillance and screening activities, including:
- Seasonal Influenza vaccinations/B12
- New Patient Health Assessments
- Health Checks for patients over 75
- Electrocardiograph recordings
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Hypertension assessments
- Pulse rate monitoring
- 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
- Phlebotomy services
- Dressings and suture removals
- Encourage and educate patients to adopt healthy lifestyles and promote self-care principles.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Proven experience in managing patient appointments, diagnostics, and healthcare support.
- Understanding of the GP Practice environment, including confidentiality protocols.
- Commitment to ongoing clinical skill development to provide evidence-based patient care.
- Willingness to grow and adapt in the role.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to work outside standard office hours.
- Additional responsibilities may lead to higher remuneration according to our pay scale.
