Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic individual for the role of Parish Clerk/RFO to support our ambitious and newly elected Parish Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend and minute council meetings, ensuring accurate records and timely distribution of minutes.
  • Manage the council's financial accounts, including budgeting, invoicing, and expense tracking.
  • Develop and implement effective administrative systems, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email.
  • Provide expert advice on legislation and best practices, ensuring compliance and governance.
  • Liaise with the Village Hall Caretaker and manage the council's assets, ensuring their maintenance and upkeep.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in local council administration is essential, given the members' new status as a Parish Council.
  • The post holder will primarily work from home, attending evening meetings and occasional daytime/evening events as required.
  • Council-provided laptop, printer/scanner, and mobile phone will facilitate remote work.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • NJC LC2 salary point scales 18-23 (£15.29 per hour), commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
  • SLCC Annual Subscription offered and paid by the Parish Council.
  • Optional participation in the Parish Council's pension scheme.
  • Mileage reimbursement at 0.45p per mile.
