Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Leonardo, a leading player in the aerospace and defense industry. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software for our state-of-the-art radar platforms deployed on the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test embedded software for radar systems using C and C++ programming languages.
  • Collaborate with firmware and hardware engineers to develop working embedded solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C and coding standards like MISRA C/C++.
  • Deploy software to distributed hardware platforms, including multicore programming and memory management techniques.
  • Develop solutions for ARM and Intel-based multicore processing platforms.
  • Communicate with configuration management tools, defect tracking, and peer review.
  • Experience with Agile development and Atlassian toolset.

Requirements:

  • Strong low-level embedded C programming skills.
  • Solid grasp of C++.
  • Experience in testing and integrating software with firmware and hardware.
  • Excellent debugging skills and application of various strategies.
  • Use of RTOSs such as VxWorks or embedded Linux.
  • Good understanding of electronics, schematic design, and use of test equipment.
