Job Title: Digital Forensics Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Forensics Technician to join our team at Sussex Police. As a Digital Forensics Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting front-line policing investigations by examining mobile devices and extracting relevant data.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct logical, physical, and manual examinations of mobile devices to support policing investigations.
- Provide tactical and technical support to investigating officers, ensuring examinations are targeted and proportionate.
- Extract, manage, file, and store data in the appropriate storage medium, providing a product to support investigations.
- Ensure the correct handling of exhibits, maintain continuity, and integrity, and record all movements and examinations on the case management system.
- Work to standard operating procedures in line with ISO 17025 standards of accreditation.

Requirements:

- Good standard of secondary education (GCSE's A-C grade/or equivalent) including Maths and English or equivalent by recent, relevant experience.
- Proven IT skills with experience of using a wide variety of computer software applications.
- Self-motivated and proven experience of working to deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage high workloads and adapt to changing demands and competing priorities.
- Good interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with customers, challenging appropriately where required.
- Strong attention to detail. Proven problem-solving skills including analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
- Ability to learn to use specific digital forensic software applications with an aptitude for continuous learning and professional development.
- Awareness of exhibit handling and procedures including continuity and integrity.
- Capable of absolute discretion when dealing with casework of a highly sensitive and confidential nature.
- Full UK Driving licence.
