Digital Broadcast Controller - Nights

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Broadcast Controller to join our 24/7 team. As a Digital Broadcast Controller, you will be responsible for the smooth transmission of Sky's channels to our customers. This is a challenging role that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Salary: £42,000 - £52,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule Preparation: You will perform manual and automated tasks on playout schedules to identify potential errors and ensure readiness for broadcast.
  • Live Schedule Management: You will edit live automation schedules to alter content or timings as required.
  • Live Schedule Monitoring: You will monitor the output of channels to confirm and maintain fault-free playout.
  • Fault Identification: You will immediately identify any loss or degradation of channel outputs, as well as loss of encryption or PIN protection.
  • Fault Recovery: You will use system resilience or schedule editing to recover from channel loss or degradation.
  • Fault Management: You will use on-screen messages, voice-overs, or other messaging to keep customers informed when a fault is not immediately recoverable.
  • Escalation: You will efficiently communicate with 2nd line support teams and operational management.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: You will need a degree qualification or relevant vocational qualifications.
  • Specialist Knowledge: You will be skilled in Playout systems and workflows, managing live events, and Playout systems used by Sky.
  • Industry Experience: You will have experience of digital playout environments and complex Live broadcast experience.
  • Leadership Skills: You will have excellent communication & influencing skills, decision making, and prioritization skills.

About Our Team:

The Playout department is responsible for ensuring the seamless, accurate, and robust delivery of Sky's channels and those of third parties that we are contracted for. The department provides a service to Sky's Entertainment, Commercial, News & Sports departments in ensuring delivery of these channel outputs for distribution on all platforms.
