Job Title: Mechanical Package Designer

Location: UK

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Package Designer to join our team at Vulcain Engineering - UK. As a key member of our engineering consultancy, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical packages within budget and ensuring resource requirements are met.

About the Role:

  • Developing mechanical designs within budget and determining resource requirements.
  • Liaising with inter-discipline engineering teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Reviewing contractor deliverables and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Controlling contract and design changes to meet project objectives.
  • Liaising with other teams to ensure equipment integration and compatibility.
  • Communicating progress, risks, and planning to support contract delivery.
  • Ensuring qualification activities progress according to contract needs.
  • Providing expertise for package design and development.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in original proposals/contracts.
  • Participating in factory acceptance tests and vendor issue support.
  • Ensuring compliance with client specifications and recommending cost-effective improvements.
  • Mechanical equipment study work, design, selection, and assessments.
  • Package follow-up work during installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning.
  • Evaluating and responding to technical queries and non-conformance requests.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.

About You:

  • You hold a Master's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
  • You have Chartership status or are actively pursuing it through a recognized international body.
  • You possess a deep understanding of EPR or general PWR design principles.
  • You have knowledge and experience in nuclear mechanical equipment design.
  • You understand equipment interfaces, safety cases, systems engineering, and CDM principles.
  • You have contract management and documentary surveillance experience.
  • You can produce technical specifications and comprehend nuclear processing regulations.
  • You have an appreciation for nuclear power generation and its specialities.
  • You have experience in design procurement of mechanical equipment (e.g., process & pressure equipment, rotating equipment, handling equipment).
