Job Title: Sports Services Supervisor

Job Type: Fixed-term contract (6 months) with the possibility of extension

Location: Belfast

About the role: As a Sports Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our sports centre, including staff management, program delivery, and business development. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement fitness programs, coordinate events, and ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage staff at the sports centre, ensuring a high level of customer service and facility maintenance.
  • Coordinate and deliver sports and fitness programs for all users, including children, adults, and seniors.
  • Develop and implement fitness programs in collaboration with clubs and organizations.
  • Manage inductions, train staff, and create personalized fitness plans for members.
  • Assist in promoting sports services and facilities through marketing and social media campaigns.
  • Collect and manage relevant data and reports to inform business decisions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety compliance, providing first aid when necessary.
  • Oversee equipment, cleanliness, and event preparation to ensure a positive user experience.
  • Handle bookings, transactions, stock management, and other administrative tasks.
  • Lead meetings and perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • BTEC HND Qualification or similar in Physical Education/Recreation, Management/Sports Coaching, or a Fitness Instructor's Award.
  • Experience within a sports centre role supervising human and physical resources, including marketing of facilities.
  • Promoting and delivering classes and exercise programs, including the preparation of individual programs in fitness and strength & conditioning.
  • Knowledge of physiological and skills development.
  • Leadership skills with experience of providing leadership to recreation and support staff.
  • Previous experience of risk assessment/health and safety regulations.
  • Awareness of the current market place within the sport & recreation sector and evidence of a pro-active response.
  • Access to transport and flexible working hours.
  • Physically fit.

Desirable criteria:

  • First Aid qualification.
  • Coaching qualifications in 2 or more sporting disciplines.
  • ISRM Supervisory qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of a computerized recreation management system.
  • Preparation of reports and appreciation of financial issues; both income and expenditure.
  • Experience in marketing and social media platforms.
