Job Summary
The Manufacturing Support Engineer provides a critical reactive and preventative maintenance process support function covering high-speed manufacturing equipment and facilities plant. The role is responsible for maximizing equipment availability, performance, and product quality while ensuring cost and safety outcomes are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide process failure and breakdown support by diagnosing root cause and repair/recovering equipment performance.
- Work closely with production and other support staff to achieve consistent line performance in line with Business Unit targets.
- Utilize analytical tools to generate and assess key performance indicators and complete trend analysis.
- Monitor and log equipment defect lists for equipment and create plans to fix.
- Identify preventative measures and improvements to reduce process failures and breakdowns.
- Carry out effective preventative maintenance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to maximize equipment availability and performance.
- Execute routine safety checks and timely calibration of machines and equipment, following defined schedules.
- Assist in the control and availability management of spares.
- Provide training to other member Manufacturing Support Teams as and when required.
- Establish and maintain procedures, common ways of working, and best practices.
- Creation of new and review/update existing procedures.
- Participation within cross-functional continuous improvement and new equipment project teams.
- Support the development of production teams with TPM activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years post-apprenticeship process support experience, working within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive understanding and sound knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing platforms.
- Proven experience in all aspects of engineering principles and techniques.
- Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects/activities.
- Time-served Apprenticeship in Mechanical; Electrical/Electronic engineering is an essential requirement for the role.
- ONC/HNC or similar in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering preferable.
Travel Requirements
There will be a requirement to travel between the Hamble and Chandlers Ford sites. Travel to UK and Non-UK based vendors will also be necessary.
