We are seeking a highly experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Animal Care and Research Operations in our Office of Vice-Principal, Research & Innovation. This position requires strong leadership skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the campus vivarium and animal care program.

About the Role

This is a full-time, term appointment at the level of PM 4, with a salary range of $104,818 - $122,290 per annum. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the vivarium team, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an animal care program within a research/academic environment.
  • Liaise with researchers, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless integration of animal care services.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and personnel to ensure efficient operation of the vivarium.
  • Collaborate with the University Regulatory Veterinarian, Vivarium Managers/Directors at other campuses, and researchers to develop and implement new policies and procedures.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a recognized Veterinary Technology program or equivalent combination of education and experience and be certified as a Registered Lab Animal Technologist/Technician. They must also have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in management and operational oversight of an animal research facility.
