Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Ophthalmology team as a Healthcare Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team. They will be responsible for providing support to our specialist services within ophthalmic outpatient clinics, day case, and emergency eye clinics.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a compassionate and sensitive approach to speaking with colleagues, staff, and patients. They will also have the ability to work flexibly across sites when service needs demand.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing support to our specialist services within ophthalmic outpatient clinics, day case, and emergency eye clinics.
  • Preparing patients for surgery and discharging them from the department with a holistic approach to care.
  • Conducting visual assessments and supporting our nurse-led injection clinics.
  • Assisting the team in delivering excellent patient care.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • English language and maths GCSE level 4 or above or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to work in a team and be supportive of team members.
  • Clear and accurate record-keeping, written and verbal skills.
  • Able to prioritize workload.
  • Willingness to undertake future self-development and service needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act professionally.
  • Ability to work with change and have a flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work within and be an effective member of a team.
