Operations Supervisor Job Description

Brightwork Ltd is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational supervision of our depot and road freight undertakings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the planning and execution of road freight operations, ensuring efficient and effective logistics management.
  • Liaise with our finance department to ensure effective facilitation with accounts and manage the procurement of transportation services.
  • Manage the performance of our road freight team, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Provide support and problem-solving options for problematic shipments and manage client expectations when issues arise.
  • Ensure effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients and transport companies.
  • Negotiate with domestic transport and logistics services companies to secure the best rates and services.
  • Provide input and direct support to top-tier and key account clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Implement and ensure policies and procedures are followed, as communicated by senior management.
  • Prepare and present shipment reports to key stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years' experience in managing road freight operations, preferably in the Oil & Gas sector, construction, or FMCG sectors.
  • Management/supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate and drive team members.
  • Good knowledge of road freight planning and use of planning tools, such as Timpex.
  • General knowledge of freight forwarding, break bulk, heavy lift, over-dimensional, and special project cargoes.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Current unrestricted driver's license.
Desirable:
  • In-depth knowledge of road and multi-modal freight procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of Incoterms.
