Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and contributing to the development of the curriculum.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading the English department, including staff development and management
  • Developing and implementing the English curriculum, including assessment and teaching strategies
  • Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, including monitoring and evaluation
  • Contributing to the development of the academy's values and vision
  • Leading the development of literacy across the academy
Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, with a minimum of one year's teaching experience.

They will have a proven track record of raising achievement, with experience of innovative curriculum development, assessment for learning, and learning to learn.

They will also have a good understanding of creative whole-school strategies for improving literacy and numeracy, and be willing to use coaching as a model for ensuring ongoing professional development.
