Job Summary

The primary objective of this role is to provide strategic coordination and support for research and innovation projects within the East Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA). This involves working closely with a range of stakeholders, including NHS providers, academic institutions, and industry partners, to ensure the effective management of research and innovation activities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement research and innovation strategies to support the East GMSA's objectives
  • Manage complex relationships with stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of research and innovation projects, including project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Provide support and guidance to researchers and clinicians on research governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director, Strategy Director, and Innovation Director to ensure alignment with the East GMSA's overall strategy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), the NHS Innovation Hub, and the Life Sciences Industry
About Us

The East GMSA is an Alliance Partnership between four NHS Trusts: Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Norfolk and Norwich University NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This role will be based at one of these Trusts and will work closely with the other partners to achieve the East GMSA's objectives.

Person Specification
  • Master's degree or equivalent level experience in a relevant field
  • Experience of working in a research or innovation environment, preferably in the NHS or academia
  • Strong project management skills, including experience of coordinating complex projects and managing budgets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of research governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements, including the UK's clinical trial process
  • Experience of working with operational finance in a research or innovation setting
