About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer to join our team at Roku. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and fault-tolerant computer vision and machine learning systems to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full model development cycle, from ideation to deployment, testing, and operations
  • Design and implement uncertainty metrics and communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Gather and compile datasets, define annotation ontologies, and ensure data quality
  • Stay up-to-date with industry and academic trends in computer vision and machine learning
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to implement new experiences and cloud services
  • Integrate services from other teams and provide services to other teams
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on new platform technologies
  • Work with QA teams to address bugs and automate software as needed

Requirements

  • Masters degree in computer science or related field
  • At least five years of experience developing production applied machine learning systems using frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow
  • At least two years of research or equivalent industry experience with state-of-the-art image processing, computer vision, or natural language processing
  • Experience with cloud services, including storing data, training, and serving models from providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience evaluating models and communicating findings
  • Experience building APIs with frameworks such as GraphQL or REST
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Argo, AWS Step Functions, or Metaflow
