About the Opportunity

We are seeking an hourly paid tutor to join our team at Twin Employment & Training Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English as a foreign language using the communicative method.

The salary for this position is £19 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing lessons efficiently in order to conduct them competently.
  2. Assisting in first day testing, placement, and induction if required.
  3. Abiding by the copyright rules and always sourcing material before photocopying.
  4. Setting and marking daily homework appropriate to the needs of the class.
  5. Substituting for other teachers in case of their absence, as agreed with the Director of Studies (DoS).
  6. Being involved in the school's observation programme (both by the DoS and peer observations).
  7. Conducting fortnightly student tutorials and recording agreed goals on TeL.
  8. Administering and marking monthly progress tests and recording results on TeL.
  9. Monitoring students' progress using the confidence report and dashboard on TeL.
  10. Moving students up or down a level as required in consultation with the DoS.
  11. Liasing regularly with teaching partners if you share a class, providing handover information to new or substitute teachers.
  12. Being familiar with and helping promote the weekly Social Programme.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience of teaching in an EFL school or summer centre is essential;
  • First Degree or higher + CELTA or equivalent is required;
  • Experience of working or living overseas is desirable;
  • DELTA or equivalent is preferred.
