The Volunteer Centre Harlow is recruiting an Emergency Response Volunteer to join their team. This volunteer role is ideal for those passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in the community.
As an Emergency Response Volunteer, you will be responsible for assisting communities in preparation for and response to emergencies. Your tasks may include helping communities prepare for extreme weather, providing practical support such as distributing clothing or food, and offering emotional support to those affected by emergencies.
Responsibilities:
- Community Preparedness: Assist in preparing communities for extreme weather events like flooding or snowstorms.
- Practical Support: Provide aid such as distributing clothing or food to those affected by emergencies.
- Emotional Support: Offer comfort and support to individuals who have been evacuated due to fires or other disasters.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication skills and possess basic office/IT/admin skills. A valid driving license and own vehicle are also necessary, with a requirement to be within 30 minutes of Harlow Fire Station. The commitment level for this role is a minimum of 24 hours per month, typically divided into two 12-hour shifts. Additionally, volunteers must be at least 18 years old and agree to a 12-month commitment.
