Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert care for babies with complex needs, working in a supportive environment that prioritizes family-centred care.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate prescribed treatment and care for patients and their families
  • Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patient's carers and the multidisciplinary team
  • Act as a professional role model, setting standards of practice
  • Promote clinical effectiveness and opportunities for teaching junior colleagues and students
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients
  • Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy
  • Develop clinical skills and participate in continuous professional development
  • Provide accurate, timely, and contemporary records of care and treatment in line with Trust record-keeping policy and NMC

About the Role:

As a Staff Nurse in our NICU, you will be part of a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary team, working together to provide high-quality, individualized care. Person Specification:

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

  • RSCN Part 8/RN (Child branch, part 15) or RN qualification
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Post Basic Certificate or related study in Neonatal Critical Care
  • 1st Degree in Nursing or health-related subject or working towards

Skills:

  • Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
  • Ability to initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient
  • Clinical decision-making ability
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Act in a professional manner

  • Recognition of own limits
  • Teaching/supervisory skills

Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment
