Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Food Service Manager to join our team at Chethams School of Music in Manchester. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of food service operations are conducted efficiently, effectively, and with a focus on delivering outstanding results.

You will lead a team of cooks and assistants, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver exceptional service.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing food service operations in a fast-paced environment, with experience in supervising staff, managing inventory, and controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • To oversee the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of students and staff.
  • To manage the kitchen team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver exceptional service.
  • To maintain accurate records of food inventory, ordering, and wastage, ensuring that costs are controlled and minimizing waste.
  • To develop and implement menus that are both healthy and appealing, working closely with the catering manager to ensure that nutritional standards are met.
  • To promote a positive and inclusive work environment, fostering open communication and collaboration among team members.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in a senior food service management role, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing food inventory, ordering, and controlling costs.
  • Basic food handling skills certification, including NVQ Level 2 and Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
