Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Transfusion department at University Hospitals Dorset for a Transfusion Practitioner. Within our department and Trust, we strive to provide the best possible care and create a positive and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering training and lectures to individuals and groups, including multiple disciplines. They will also attend meetings of the hospital transfusion group, transfusion team, and UHD specific meetings and regional and national transfusion meetings.
Key responsibilities include training and supporting clinical staff in sample collection, blood component collection, and transfusion administration via the Haemonetics BloodTrack system. The successful candidate will also investigate and report clinical transfusion and laboratory incidents to SHOT/SABRE, and perform root cause analysis as required.

Main Duties
- Deliver training and lectures to individuals and groups
- Attend meetings of the hospital transfusion group, transfusion team, and UHD specific meetings and regional and national transfusion meetings

Requirements
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist or NMC registered Nurse
- Higher degree qualification in a relevant subject
- Post-registration teaching and assessment qualification or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience
- Demonstrated teaching and training experience in blood transfusion practices
- Experience of implementing and managing change
- Experience of investigating incidents and performing root cause analysis
