An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Families, Young People, Children's and Learning Disability and Autism (FYPCLDA) Directorate for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) in the Children's Speech & Language Therapy (SALT) team.
The successful candidate will have a specialist interest and extensive experience of working with children and young people who use AAC. They will maintain a clinical pathway, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based practice across the service and work collaboratively with partners to meet the needs of children with AAC across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland (LLR).
We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate, skilled specialist therapist who brings a passion for transformation and delivery of service to children and young people with AAC needs across LLR. As part of the role, the postholder will need specialist skills to provide training and coaching to the wider workforce to support children and young people who use AAC.
The successful candidate will work closely with other clinical specialists, the service Clinical Lead, and members of the SALT team to meet the diverse health needs of the population. You will be line managed by the SALT Family Service Manager.
Access to a car and a current UK driving license is essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Hold a specialist AAC caseload and support other members of the team with caseload management.
- Be responsible for expert clinical supervision across the speech and language therapy team for AAC.
- Offer effective and impactful clinical leadership of the AAC within the speech and language therapy team within Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
- Participate and lead in the development of quality improvements for service delivery, creating and maintaining evidence-based, high-quality AAC pathways.
- Contribute to service-level conversations and provide clinical specialist insight into service development, as appropriate.
- Manage complaints related to quality and clinical practice across the speech and language therapy team.
- Deputise for clinical lead as appropriate.
