Primary SEN Teaching Assistant Vacancy

GSL Education - Yorkshire is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in our schools in Yorkshire.

Our schools provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping primary students overcome barriers to learning while supporting their emotional and social well-being.

The Job Description

You will work closely with younger students who experience a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Personalised Support: Providing tailored assistance to help students engage with the curriculum and develop coping strategies for emotional challenges.
  • Emotional and Social Development: Fostering a safe and caring atmosphere, offering guidance to help students build resilience, confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Behaviour Management: You will collaborate with teachers to develop effective behaviour management strategies, which may include Team Teach training.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, particularly in primary education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, which are essential for building positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
