About the Role

The Senior Manager Legal and Finance will be responsible for overseeing the firm's financial operations, including managing the finance department, reception staff, and post room. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management, regulatory compliance, and IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the accounts team, reception staff, and post room
  • Preparation and provision of information to the firm's accountants for annual SARs audit and year-end accounts
  • Proactive identification and mitigation of potential risks, including GDPR, accounts breaches, etc.
  • Change and project management
  • Ensuring the office environment is professional, efficient, and productive by proactively finding solutions
  • Lexcel applications and reaccreditation
  • Internal training to ensure Lexcel compliance
  • Drafting, reviewing, and updating policies in collaboration with others as and when required and in line with Lexcel, CQS, and SRA guidelines
  • Supporting the firm's marketing efforts, including managing social media accounts, website updates, online reviews, and promotional materials
  • Monitoring financial performance and providing regular reports to the management team
  • VAT returns
  • Corporation Tax instalments
  • PAYE supervision
  • NITax payments due to HMRC
  • Maintaining and updating staff benefits scheme
  • CQS applications
  • Practising certificate bulk renewal application
  • PII renewal
  • Cyber Insurance renewal
  • Office Insurance renewal
  • Finance arrangements
  • SRA applications when required
  • Team appraisals
  • Providing support to staff in relation to software/systems, including P4W, Bundledocs, Legl ID checks, PeopleHR, Formshare, etc.

About You

We are looking for an experienced legal professional with a strong background in financial management, regulatory compliance, and IT systems. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a legal or professional services environment and possess a commanding knowledge of the Solicitor Accounts Rules and an overview of the general obligations of the SRA Handbook. A comprehensive understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting is also essential. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, the ability to handle confidential information with discretion, and a strong IT skillset. Experience with COFA and COLP duties and responsibilities, as well as drafting policies and procedures, is highly desirable. The salary for this role is £50,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
