Job Title: Environmental Health Officer - Food Safety Specialist

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer to join our client local government organisation based in Bristol.

The successful candidate will provide a corporately responsible and accessible Environmental Health service, which delivers legislative enforcement, advice, and education to promote and secure an enhanced sustainable and safe environment for the City of Bristol.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys and inspections of premises, investigate incidents and accidents, and measure environmental factors to inform decision-making.
  • Evaluate and appraise collected data to assess risk levels and compare with standards to determine areas for improvement.
  • Use legal powers to enforce minimum environmental health standards, including preparation of prosecution files and liaison with legal teams.
  • Monitor caseload, working to targets, and keep managers informed of progress.

Requirements:

  • Must have a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and be registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Detailed experience in one of the following Environmental Health specialisms: Food safety, Health & safety, Housing, Pollution control, Port Health, Infectious Disease Control.
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge of Environmental Health in practical situations.
  • Commitment to quality of service, customer focus, and equality of access to services.

Working Hours: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday - Friday

Pay: £25.98 per hour

Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
