About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our team at Norse Group. As a key member of our highways depot, you will be responsible for the upkeep of our fleet of LGV vehicles, ensuring they are serviced, maintained, and repaired in accordance with Operators Licence requirements and DVSA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Servicing and repair of vehicles and plant/equipment to a professional standard as per workshop procedures.
- Preparation of vehicles for annual tests, road testing to certify roadworthiness, and attending breakdowns.
- Monitoring personal use of parts, ensuring timely ordering and availability to minimize vehicle/equipment downtime.
- Ensuring work is carried out efficiently and in a timely manner to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize workshop income.
- Attending breakdowns and callouts within the working day and as part of emergency duty roster outside the working day.
- Fault diagnosis using dealer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment to trace and rectify faults.
- Responsible for the recovery of vehicles and equipment from the site to ensure assets are recovered safely and then repaired ready for re-use.
Candidate Requirements:
- Ideal candidate will possess NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in HGV/Light vehicle Maintenance.
- Full UK Driving licence + CAT C licence as you may be required to pick up and carry out road tests of vehicles.
- Proven experience of working within a commercial workshop, on site, servicing, inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of vehicles and equipment.
- Working Knowledge of Vehicle Parts.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and ability to promote best practice as an individual and for others.
