We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systemic Practitioner to join our All Age Eating Disorder Service (EDS).

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality systemic interventions to children, young people, and adults with eating disorders, working with them alongside their families, carers, and as couples, as is clinically indicated.

The role will also involve supervision of nurses delivering Family-Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN), co-facilitating in-house training, and coordinating Multi-Family Therapy Groups, alongside the Senior Family Therapist.

Main Duties of the Job

  1. To complete the Masters in Systemic Psychotherapy, funded by the service.
  2. To contribute to a high-quality specialist family therapy service to service users and families with complex emotional and mental health needs.
  3. To provide specialist assessment, formulation, and therapy within the service.
  4. To offer advice, consultancy, and supervision, under supervision of the Senior Family Therapist, and support the work of colleagues providing care and treatment, according to expertise.
  5. To work with the Senior Family Therapist to provide training to a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health areas, as agreed.
  6. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

Person Specification

Education

  • Professional qualification in a mental health or social welfare discipline or agreed Association of Family Therapy (AFT) equivalent.
  • Postgraduate training in Systemic Practice to enable the title of Systemic Practitioner - namely completion of either 'AFT approved' Intermediate Level Systemic Practice Training or CYP-IAPT in Systemic Family Practice.
  • Registration with the appropriate regulatory body for core profession.

Knowledge

  • Skills in the use of methods of Systemic Psychotherapy/Family based assessment, intervention, and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to comprehend and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information in a manner appropriate to a range of settings and audiences, including complex emotive situations and those with impaired communication capacities.
