Electrical Field Specialist

Job Purpose:

This role plays a vital part in the team within the London Region geographical area, supporting Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults within the area. The Field Engineer will liaise with customers, network operations and control, networks guidance of field staff, and management of contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
  • Deliver maintenance, construction, and fault works to time, cost, and quality.
  • Ensure staff comply with procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the efficient utilisation of resources.
  • Communicate with HV/LV control, submitting switching logs and completing network operations according to distribution safety rules and procedures.
  • Update the Asset Database – SAP, with completed work.
  • Provide technical support to field staff and manage contract issues with Contract Management.
  • Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for project work.
  • Complete quality assurance checks and rectify quality issues.
  • Communicate with customers to meet their expectations.
  • Be prepared to assist other sections as needed.
  • Complete out-of-hours safety/emergency response (Standby).

Nature and Scope:

This role is crucial in delivering an excellent service to customers, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards. The Field Engineer will work with the scheduling team, Work Planner, Field Staff Supervisor, and Field Staff to achieve this goal.

Requirements:

  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • HNC Electrical Engineering, or equivalent (if not achieved, must be committed to undertaking studies).
  • IT literate, including financial and work package (SAP).
  • Current valid driving licence.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

Managers and supervisors carry legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of employees, those under their control, and those affected by the work undertaken. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence, and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment.
