About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Religious Education (RE) teacher to join our team at a well-regarded secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. As an RE specialist, you will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students. Your role will involve teaching RE across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 for candidates with relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality RE lessons that promote critical thinking and open discussion among students.
  • Working collaboratively with the RE department to develop a dynamic curriculum that covers a range of religions, philosophies, and ethical perspectives.
  • Monitoring student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Fostering a respectful and inclusive environment that encourages students to explore diverse beliefs and moral perspectives.
  • Contributing to school initiatives and participating in department meetings to share best practices with colleagues.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a related field, along with QTS or equivalent. You should have experience teaching RE at KS3 and KS4, with KS5 experience seen as a plus. Strong classroom management skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire students with your passion for religious studies are essential.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a related discipline.
  • QTS or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching RE at KS3 and KS4, with KS5 experience desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary on the MPS/UPS scale, ranging from £30,000 to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, there is potential for TLR opportunities for those demonstrating leadership potential.
