Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cleaning Operative to join our Facilities Management team at the City of Edinburgh Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality cleaning service across our estate, ensuring our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn in.
About the Role
This is a permanent position, offering flexible hours to suit your needs, with the opportunity to balance family, caring, or studying commitments. You will be responsible for:
- Emptying litter and recycling bins
- Cleaning all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings within a group of buildings
- Cleaning all sanitary areas, toilets, and showers, and replenishing washroom consumables
- Emergency and reactive cleaning as required, including removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, and accidental spillages
- Caring for and cleaning all equipment used in carrying out these duties
- Other tasks as may reasonably be required, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where needed
Key Responsibilities
As a Cleaning Operative, you will be required to:
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet agreed standards
- Be a key holder to enable opening and closing of buildings, including operation of security alarm systems, closing accessible windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure
