About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy and Strategy Officer to join our Environment team at Lichfield District Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering policy initiatives that promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, such as environmental science, policy, or a related discipline. They will also have at least 2 years' experience in a local government or related policy environment, requiring an understanding and interpretation of strategic policy making and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of various plans, strategies, and related action plans, monitoring their overall delivery and reporting on implementation to elected members, the Council's leadership team, and external partners.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Policy and Strategy Service to ensure insight, data, and analysis informs policy and strategy development producing sound and robust decision-making based on local needs and issues.
  • Represent the District Council at meetings, inquiries, hearings, other consultations, and engagement meetings, and on external working parties held in connection with the work of the policy and strategy service.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be between £29,777 and £40,221 per annum, depending on experience. The role also offers a range of benefits, including a local government pension, private health insurance after completion of the probationary period, and free onsite parking.

Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • At least 2 years' experience within a local government or related policy environment requiring an understanding and interpretation of strategic policy making and implementation.
  • Knowledge of local government policy and strategy development and implementation.
