About the Conventional Safety Specialist Placement

This is a unique opportunity for university students to gain hands-on experience in a 12-month placement with our Conventional Safety Team.

The role sits within our Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Function, which is responsible for implementing AWE's Safety Management System and driving continuous environmental improvements across the business.

As a Safety Specialist, you will be working alongside other safety professionals to identify and implement control measures, ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, and drive safety improvements within operational areas.

The role offers a diverse experience, involving risk assessments, risk-based inspections, and delivering safety initiatives.

  • Developing an understanding of AWE's Management System and gaining practical experience of implementation in operational areas.
  • Gaining experience of Risk Assessment and risk-based inspections in line with relevant legislation, industry standards, and AWE's policies, procedures, and guidance.
