Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Photonics Design Engineer to join our team at Allegis Group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop cutting-edge optical and photonic components, modules, and sub-systems using advanced design tools and software.

• Lead a team, setting objectives and conducting annual appraisals to ensure high performance.

• Contribute to the development of a cohesive product strategy that meets business growth objectives.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical and electronic design engineers, product engineers, and technicians.

• Participate in prototype build, including fibre-optic splicing, mechanical/electrical assembly, and opto-electronic testing.

• Develop and execute test plans for functional and environmental verification of components and systems.

• Support design modifications and engineering changes to existing products.

• Present results clearly and concisely to internal and external customers.

• Deliver projects on time and within budget constraints.

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering or Physics, with a PhD in a relevant area preferred.

• Knowledge and experience in fibre-optics, photonics, and general optics.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical challenges.

• Well-organized, with the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

• Experienced with design tools such as Zemax Optics Studio or equivalents.

• Adaptable to situations requiring rapid design changes due to customer needs.

• Driven, self-motivated, and autonomous with a 'Can-do' attitude.

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
