European Technical Centre – Software Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our European Technical Centre. As a key member of our Electrical team, you will develop desktop, Android, and web applications for a wide range of products used in the automation industry. You will have the opportunity to work with industrial communication protocols & IIoT technologies, such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, IO-Link, OPC UA & Wireless.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test software applications for industrial automation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions
  • Provide technical support to SMC European subsidiaries and customers
  • Contribute to the development of software documentation and technical reports

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience of programming in VB, C#, C++, Python or Java
  • Ability to plan and manage own projects
  • Experience of writing technical reports and software documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passport and driving licence required, as there will be some UK and European travel in the role
  • Software Engineering degree at 2.1 level or higher
