Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lecturer in Psychology to join our academic teaching and research staff team at Heriot-Watt University. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the development of our undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Psychology or an appropriate subject and experience in teaching and assessment. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, undertaking research/scholarship activities, and promoting the research culture and activities of the Department and University.

About the Role

This is a full-time position with an estimated salary range of £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. The appointment will be made on the basis of a Teaching & Scholarship post for 12 months. Post holders will engage in teaching (approximately 70%), scholarship activities (approximately 10%) and carry out one or more administrative duties (approximately 20%).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach across the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum at HWU
  • Undertake personal research/scholarship activities
  • Produce publications of high quality in high impact journals
  • Further disseminate research/scholarship outputs
  • Lead bids and tenders for externally-funded research projects
  • Promote the research culture and activities of the Department and University
  • Undertake supervision and personal tutoring


Requirements:
  • PhD in Psychology or an appropriate subject
  • UG and/or PG teaching and assessment experience in Psychology
  • Demonstrable initiative in research/scholarship
  • Background knowledge of the University and the School
  • Relevant teaching qualification
