Are you a skilled journalist looking to join an ambitious team at the BBC?
We are seeking an experienced weekend newsreader to bring local stories to life for our audience in Newcastle. As a key member of our Radio Newcastle team, you will be responsible for compiling and presenting hourly weekend news bulletins, with some weekday working.

Main Responsibilities
• Compiling and presenting news bulletins, with a focus on delivering engaging and accurate content under tight deadlines.
• Responding to breaking news, summarizing complex issues calmly and clearly, and deploying to report on stories as required.
• Developing original story ideas, guests, and creative treatments, and conducting background research to support high-quality content production.
• Collaborating with colleagues across the BBC News and Corporation to ensure seamless content delivery.
• Writing high-quality scripts, adhering to the BBC's Editorial values, and meeting the highest standards of accuracy, impartiality, and fair dealing.

About the Role
This is a demanding but rewarding position that requires a passion for storytelling, creativity, and exceptional communication skills. You will work closely with producers and other team members to deliver engaging content that resonates with our audience.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in broadcast journalism, a strong news-reading voice, and excellent writing and research skills. You must be comfortable working under pressure, able to think creatively, and committed to delivering high-quality results within tight deadlines.
