Job Summary

Orchard Therapeutics, a global biotechnology company, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Operations Coordinator to support the Technical Operations function. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating processes, activities, and initiatives that drive operational excellence and process improvement.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Business Operations, and will provide an opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and technical teams to support the achievement of departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate OpEx projects, including facilitating workshops, generating project charters, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate procurement activities for the Tech Ops function and support contract review and approval processes.
  • Oversee coordination and review of departmental budget, risk management, operational processes, and routine monitoring of external costs.
  • Assist with strategic and long-range planning activities for the tech ops function.
  • Maintain business evaluation databases.
  • Contribute ideas and support the organization of engagement initiatives, such as coordinating monthly Lunch & Learn events.
  • Assist with the design and preparation of presentations to support departmental communication processes.
  • Provide precise reporting and governance support for the technical functions.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience as an operations coordinator or similar role, preferably within the biotechnology sector.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Process-oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail.
  • Reliable, with excellent time-management and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, anticipate, and resolve challenges, and deliver results to demanding deadlines.
  • A strong team player with a flexible and customer-focused approach.
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight.
  • Familiarity with Operational Excellence / Lean program coordination.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education

A BSc or relevant industry experience in biotechnology, biological sciences, gene therapy, analytical development, or an operational excellence or finance-related discipline is required. Some experience in a coordinator role in a tech ops, procurement, project, or operations function, ideally in the pharma industry, is preferred.
