About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fleet Project Engineer to join our team at Freightliner Group Ltd.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, testing, and reliability of ETCS being rolled out across Freightliner's Class 66 fleet.

You will work closely with industry stakeholders to identify and support the introduction of efficiencies or potential improvements throughout the rollout process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design scrutiny of onboard designs, including in-house testing of locomotives, detailed analysis of electrical and pneumatic diagrams, modification and testing procedures, structural calculations, and safety compliance.
  • Reviewing and developing new and existing Freightliner policies, standards, and procedures to reflect the introduction of ERTMS.
  • Working with the business to introduce physical and operational depot requirements as defined by ETCS maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Producing concise progress reports and raising engineering risks and issues to Senior Engineering Management.
  • Representing Freightliner in wider freight industry ERTMS development workshops.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in engineering, coupled with a proven track record in managing projects. Intimate knowledge of Freightliner's traction and rolling stock fleet, particularly Class 66's, is also essential.
