Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe and effective nursing care and treatment for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy, medical and supportive treatments, or undergoing medical investigations on the Amberley Unit.

The ideal candidate will have experience in haematology/oncology nursing and a recognized SACT administration training qualification. If you are not trained in SACT, but are willing to undergo training, you may still apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care and treatment to patients receiving SACT, medical and supportive treatments, or undergoing medical investigations.
  • Administer intravenous medication, cannulate patients, and perform venepuncture as required.
  • Liaise with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and escalate appropriately to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Provide pre-SACT patient information sessions and handle telephone triage.
  • Demonstrate skill in handling bad news situations and empathize with patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Experience post-registration in an acute clinical setting.
  • Current competency in administration of intravenous medication, cannulation, and venepuncture.
  • Experience in haemato-oncology nursing and administration of blood products.
  • Ability to empathize, support, and provide reassurance in difficult situations.
