Job Description

The Director of Studies is a key member of our academic team responsible for the effective running of our summer language programmes. This role involves ensuring the wellbeing of both teachers and students, while adhering to our Safeguarding Policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and manage student levelling data to group students into class levels.
  • Plan and deliver engaging language-focused lessons that meet the needs of our students.
  • Support teachers with lesson planning and delivery to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Organise graduation photos and project showcase days to celebrate our students' achievements.
  • Lead the academic team and work closely with the summer programme management to ensure a successful experience for all participants.
  • Conduct regular academic meetings to discuss progress and address any concerns.
  • Manage placement testing and maintain accurate records.
  • Foster strong relationships with our YL Academic Operations Manager and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Adhere to our BSC Uniform Policy and promote a positive, respectful environment for all.
Child Protection & Safeguarding:

We are committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in our care. As a Director of Studies, you will be responsible for:

  • Familiarising yourself with our Young Learners Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Ensuring compliance with site rules and our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting any concerns to the relevant authorities.
Requirements:
  • Degree in English Language Teaching (ELT) or related field.
  • DELTA or MA TESOL/MA Linguistics qualification or equivalent experience as a DoS on summer programmes.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly MS Office, email, and database management.
  • Excellent lesson planning skills and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Enthusiasm for working with young learners and contributing to a supportive, multicultural environment.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and experience of British Council Inspections.
