Main Areas of ResponsibilityYour key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the consistent implementation of the Behaviour for Learning Policy
- Ensuring the calm and purposeful entrance and exit of students into/out of the academy
- Working with the behaviour team to monitor and supervise students before school, during break, and throughout lunch
- Managing and supervising late detentions every afternoon
- Ensuring students enter the building in full academy uniform and following agreed procedures if not
- Following up on students failing to meet academy standards
- Addressing any behaviour-related issues as required
- Informally mentoring students with repeat incidents of exit or exclusion and those on PSPs, including supporting in lessons where appropriate
- Ensuring student safety by reporting allegations of bullying for further investigation
- Supervising students internally excluded or exited from lessons
- Ensuring students actively engage with meaningful learning while in the supervision room
- Liaising with teaching staff to provide appropriate work and provision
- Liaising with parents/carers and relevant APs and subject staff for smooth transition to and from internal exclusion
- Maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment
- Liaising with Heads of House and Assistant Principals to monitor students on behaviour and attendance/punctuality reports
- Ensuring designated students have up-to-date report cards and completed cards are filled appropriately
- Keeping records of poor punctuality and organising late detentions
- Carrying out administrative tasks for the Vice Principal as requested
- Assisting the academy Leadership Group in maintaining the highest standards of attendance and punctuality to lessons, including corridor sweeps to ensure students make their way to lessons punctually
- Overseeing the registration of students who are late to the academy as required
We are looking for candidates with:
- GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent
- Knowledge of the range of barriers to learning that students face
- Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Basic knowledge of first aid, e.g. emergency first aid course
- Two years' experience of working in an inner-city school or educational establishment
- Experience of dealing successfully with a range of behaviour issues
- Experience of working with staff to ensure excellent behaviour for learning
- Experience of working with families
- Experience of supervising a group of students for detentions, referral, and internal exclusion as appropriate
- Experience of working with challenging students and finding ways to meet their needs more successfully
- Experience of working with students from a range of ethnic backgrounds
