Aircraft De-icer Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Aircraft De-icer to join our team at Integrated Deicing Services, LLC. As an Aircraft De-icer, you will be responsible for removing ice from aircraft, inspecting for frozen contamination, and ensuring a safe environment during de/anti-icing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe environment during de/anti-icing operations and follow company policies and procedures.
- Inspect aircraft for frozen contamination and uphold duties related to de/anti-icing according to procedures.
- Participate in pre-planning for de/anti-ice events, including equipment checks and fuel/glycol servicing.
- Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Minimum of 5 years of work history required to obtain an airside badge.
- Must pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Legally authorized to work in the UK without any Visa sponsorship.
- Due to the nature of the business, hours of work are to be flexible with additional hours required during certain events.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Maintain and treat all information as confidential.
- Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English.
- Must be able to verbally direct in English.
- Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives.
- Successful completion of all IDS classroom and OJT de-/anti-icing training.
- Must be able to speak and hear efficiently.
- A valid driver's license is required for this position.
Work Environment:
Prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 15 ft to perform role, repairs, or inspections.
- Must be able to speak, hear efficiently to supplement other senses in maximizing situational awareness in safety sensitive environments.
- Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- May be exposed to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and weather, all of which are well-managed with a high level of training, personal protective equipment, and safety procedures.
