Job Summary

The Clinical Specialist Nurse will provide high-quality patient-centred clinical care as an advanced practitioner within the Acute Oncology Service. This will involve advanced clinical assessment, history taking, and examination, as well as synthesising information gathered and using clinical reasoning to diagnose and formulate a shared management/personalised care/support plan within an agreed scope of practice.

The successful candidate will work autonomously to provide expert clinical practice, management, leadership, education, research, audit, and professional activities. They will continually review and audit pathways of care, work as part of the ambulatory clinic for patients requiring review post-ED attendance, and ensure the delivery of appropriate care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient-centred clinical care as an advanced practitioner within the Acute Oncology Service.
  • Work autonomously to provide expert clinical practice, management, leadership, education, research, audit, and professional activities.
  • Continually review and audit pathways of care.
  • Work as part of the ambulatory clinic for patients requiring review post-ED attendance.
  • Ensure the delivery of appropriate care plans.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience at a senior level (Band 7 or above) in cancer or acute care.
  • Experience in service development and implementation of change.
  • Publication in healthcare journals.
